Das Flüssige zwischen uns
THE LIQUID BETWEEN US
The invisible but audible. Close and still isolated.
In search of new forms of expression during and after the pandemic, performance maker Bahzad Sulaiman explored the invisible boundaries of interpersonal contact. The result is an interdisciplinary opera performance that interprets the forms of relationship between human bodies in public space through movement, vocal expression and language.
"THE LIQUID BETWEEN US" poses questions related to the physical and psychological distance between people in society. In doing so, the performance focuses particularly on persons diagnosed with social anxiety (social phobia) or autism spectrum.
In this context, the performance questions human behaviour and its effects. "Disorder" is also considered here as a social, psychological, and behavioural phenomenon.
The spoken and emotional levels of Johanna Kotlaris' texts and Rúben Borges' composition create an experiential space in which contemplation and active listening emerge through sound, singing and movement.

The 7 Deaths of Maria Callas
At the intersection of opera, performance and video art, 7 Deaths of Maria Callase pays tribute to the legacy of the Greek-American soprano Maria Callas. Seven of her death scenes from her most iconic roles, including Tosca, Carmen and Madame Butterfly, are reinterpreted. The "last" death belongs to Callas himself. Abramović was touched at an early age by the similarities between Callas and herself as young artists. Both had a complicated relationship with their mother and both suffered from heartbreak.7 Deaths of Maria Callas premiered in 2020 at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and has since traveled to the Opéra National de Paris, the Greek National Opera in Athens, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Real Teatro San Carlo in Naples. After Carré, 7 Deaths will be performed in Barcelona in March 2023. The music alternates between Marko Nikodijević's brand new, avant-garde score for orchestra and choir, and arias from existing operas, from Puccini to Verdi. The contribution of the Nederlands Kamerkoor / NKK NXT in the performance lies in the performance of the work of Marko Nikodijević. It's about 5-10 minutes of music.
